WEbarometer Survey
Extended deadline – 15 September 2020

The COVID-19 crisis and its socio-economic effects have been hard on small businesses, with women entrepreneurs (WE)-led businesses being disproportionately affected.

New data from the Global State of Small Business Report shows that 37% of women business leaders operate micro-businesses (as opposed to 24% of men). And yet, WE-owned small businesses are 7% more likely to have closed their business due to the current pandemic. Moreover, the survey showed that WE-led businesses are more likely to operate in the sectors most affected by lockdown measures. In fact, the stricter the lockdown, the greater the disparity in closure rates between WEs and their male counterparts.

EU leaders have recently agreed on the post-COVID-19 EU Recovery Package budget, crucial to support millions of European businesses. Now more than ever, the voice of women entrepreneurs must be heard. Simply put, informing governments of your business challenges and needs is the surest way for them to be addressed by the priorities and distribution of the EU Recovery Package funding.
