Some highlights from our June Board Meeting include:
New Board Members
We are excited to announce that Vassia Sarantopoulou (The Anti-Loneliness Project) and Lucy Bosscher (ASPIRE Pilates) have confirmed they will join the board starting in September 2016.
Julie Kennedy will schedule a 2 hour session with all new board members before the September board meeting and we will discuss assigning roles with the new board members. Open roles include: Sponsorship, Communications (social media) and Events & Fairs.
There are still places available on the board. Please contact the office manger or an existing board member if you are interested. See here for more information on joining the board.
Office Manager Vacancy
We were inundated with applications for the Office Manager position with 22 candidates applying for the role. Board members had the difficult task of scoring each candidate with the aim to invite 5 for interview on the 23rd June. Thanks to everyone who submitted an application and good luck!
Professional Development Workshops
The dates and times for the Professional Development Workshops has been finalised, but we are yet to confirm a location. Here is a list of the workshops on our theme ‘Using Media to Transform your Business‘. Registration will open soon!
MKB – update
Several members of our board attended MKB’s Asparagus Party last month and we are in the process of requesting funding to enable WBII to join MKB and NVR. Our goal is to connect WBII with local networks and integrate international entrepreneurs with the Dutch community.
Board members talked with Nicole van Haelst from ICP who has kindly extended an invitation to all WBII members for ICP Tap3.
The board has decided it would be most cost efficient to keep the design of the new WBII website in-house. Therefore, if funding is found, Natalie Carstens and Lisa Hall will begin work on this project in September.
International Community Calendar
The theme of ‘Water, Water, Everywhere’ has been confirmed and if you haven’t seen our call out for both images and advertisers, please find more information here.
Members are also actively encouraged to advertise in the calendar. Not only to support the WBII, but also to promote their own businesses to the International Community at large. If you would like to share the advertising space with other members, do get together! Full page spread advert is €500 plus btw – why not split this between 4 of you!
IWD Silent Auction & Bijlmer Bridge2Hope Donation
We have the final figures for the silent auction from our International Women’s Day celebration and the handcrafted bracelets that have been on sale for the Bijlmer project. The fantastic amount of 238.12 euros will be donated to Bijlmer on behalf of the WBII. Thanks everyone for your contributions!
Summer Social Drinks Event
Finally, on the agenda was the planning and organisation of a Social Drinks Event for Support Teams in July. We are so thankful to our members who support the WBII at a variety of events and meetings. We’d like to say thank you at this event.
The WBII Executive Board:
Julie Kennedy, Charlene Lambert, Nira Satguru, Clare Summerfield, Myra Colis, Lisa Hall, and Suzy Oge.
The Executive Board is comprised of committed members, each taking specific responsibilities to support the WBII. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month for a 2-3 hour meeting at our office on the Nassauplein.
