2020 started as a year filled with aspirations for entrepreneurs. I am one of them. I resigned from being an educator at an international school after 21 years service, and on February 1st became a full time entrepreneur. Like so many entrepreneurs, I had to re-strategise my future business plans.
Covid-19 has had devastating consequences for the people who have lost their loved ones and livelihoods. There are others who have suffered from serious mental health issues to loneliness. In addition, the impact of lockdowns have created further uncertainties and issues. I am not for one minute advocating a sense of fear, quite the opposite. We have every reason to be optimistic and embrace this opportunity to be introspective.
Change and death are two certainties in life, (and paying taxes!). With change comes the ability to adapt, let go of the past and move on to become the best version of oneself.
How do you become the best version of oneself?
Dr. Rangan Chatterjee in his book The Stress Solution outlines four steps to reset your body, mind, relationships and purpose. Research shows us if you do something you Love, do something really small each day with real mindful Intent and gratitude, develop a long term Vision, and do something that makes you Engage with others through voluntary gestures, your levels of stress will support the better version of yourself. [L.I.V.E.]
Scientific evidence supports the practices of 30 minutes of daily walk or exercise, a good night’s sleep, eating a balanced nutrient rich diet, hydrating, having morning and evening routines. These practices will enhance your wellbeing and productivity. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod is one of a series of books that presents the evidence. If you are struggling with any habits Atomic Habits by James Clear is another compelling book on how to create good habits and eliminate bad habits.
Do you want to finish 2020 stronger and start 2021 with momentum to succeed?
According to Dr. Joe Dispenza’s almost spooky research, he has found scientific evidence of the power of one’s thoughts and feelings. Did you know that you can reprogram your subconscious mind before you go to bed by doing five simple practices?
- Planning your day before you go to bed
- Renewing your goals every single night
- Practicing gratitude
- Asking your subconscious mind for answers
- Night meditation
“How you think and feel creates your state of being.”
Dr. Joe Dispenza
Do you have a financial strategy that’s making money?
Start With Why by Simon Sinek provides evidence why people and businesses succeed. “Why are some people and organisations more inventive, pioneering and successful than others? And why are they able to repeat their success? Because in business it doesn’t matter what you do it matters why you do it.”
The golden circle of Simon Sinek starts with the innermost “why”. Why are you doing what you do? Then move to “what” you want to do to align with the why. Then follow on to “how” you will accomplish your “why” and the “what”. Simon Sinek was inspired by the golden ratio – a fascinating mathematical ratio that explains order in parts of nature, architecture, the pyramids, the painting of Mona Lisa – the list goes on.
Changing your money mindset and reprogramming your relationships with money will lead to developing a strategy that will make you money with ease. T. Harv Eker presents the evidence in his transformative book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.
The internet is open for business. Changing and evolving with customer needs is a way forward for creating a financial strategy. What also helps is to be customer-centric, automise processes and delegate to experts. The neuroscience research provides the evidence that we are in the driving seat of our journey.
Women in 21st century Europe are still doing the major share of the household chores and cooking and are the major childcare partner according to many research studies. Learning to delegate household chores, automate and make routines involving all living in a household can add a sense of community. This will give women the time they need to focus on their business. I pose a question to you, the reader. What do you have in common with Bill Gates? Bill Gates and you both have 24 hours in a day and it is how he used his 24 hours that led him to where he is.
