The International Family Fair, an initiative of WBII Member, Jet Sichterman, is taking place on Saturday 11 October 2014 – save the date!
international-family-fair-2014Raising children in a foreign country is not easy; support systems are left behind and searching for help is hard if the language is unfamiliar. The International Family Fair is here to help internationals navigate the Dutch parenting waters with workshops, seminars and an information market.
This event provides an open atmosphere where parenting issues can be discussed and where parents are able to meet each other and share their experiences.

The Concept

The International Family Fair aims to provide international parents with all the information needed to support their child(ren) while in the Netherlands in the fields of child development, parenting, health, wellbeing and practical issues.
It does not matter whether you are new to the Netherlands or almost feel like a local, whether your kid has special needs and you are looking for specific services or whether you just want to learn what is out there for you, the International Family Fair has something to offer for all parents with children below age 13. Children are welcome too!

De Week van de Opvoeding

week-van-de-opvoedingThe International Family Fair is part of the national Parenting Week (De Week van de Opvoeding), during which many activities focusing on parents and children are organised all over the country.
“During the Parenting Week we want parents, educators, youth and children to meet and talk together” – De Week van de Opvoeding.
This is the first time the International Family Fair will be organised. It is an initiative of Expat Child Psychology, whose founder, Jet Sichterman, noticed that it can be very difficult for international parents to find their way to good services in the fields of health & wellbeing.
The International Family Fair creates a platform where parents can meet and talk to the people behind various services in The Hague & surrounds.

The Program

Four sessions of inspiring seminars given by experts will touch on everything from best ways to bring up multilingual children and how to prepare your child for a move across borders, to emotional intelligence and how to support your child at school.
Parents and children can learn together during fun workshops on topics like positive thinking and mindfulness.
Throughout the day there will also be various fun activities for the kids to join while their parents may listen in on one of the seminars.
Next to this, a wide variety of services will present themselves at the information market where parents will have the chance to meet local experts in the fields of health, body & mind, parenting, social groups, education, food and more!
