Audrey-DickinsonIn this instalment, we interview Audrey Dickinson of Nourish & Flourish Nutrition

Tell us about your business:
I have my own Nutrition practice in Den Haag. My business focus is guiding people to feel into their body to identify which ingrained food & lifestyle habits are fueling their chronic pain and imbalance. I work with them to observe how and when they eat their foods and why they feel compelled to sabotage their health outcomes. I provide a space where my clients feel heard, valued and understood. We work together as a team to learn why the body needs essential nutrients to help it thrive in a very hectic modern world. I encourage people to come back to mother nature and to work in harmony with each other.

What 5 words would you choose to describe your business?
Compassionate, Empowering, Educational, Inspiring and Nurturing

What are your most popular products or services?
My hormone and fertility packages, as well as various functional testing ( gut microbiome, hormone, thyroid, vaginal health, inflammation etc..) to support targeted protocols, that support various chronic diseases and female health issues related to – PCOS, Endometriosis, Premature ovarian failure, fertility, perimenopause/menopause.

What do you like best about owning a business?
I love that my business continually challenges me to bring structure and accountability into my life. I love the flexibility of owning my own business and if I choose, I can take it in whatever direction I wish, whether that be collaborating with others or working on my own. . Business is not only a creative journey but also a personal journey, tapping into my values and how I want to show up in the world.

What or who inspired you to start your business?
My experience through my own personal health issues, stirred me into starting my own business. Taking me back to study Nutritional Science and therapeutics, I knew from the amazing teachers and functional medicine doctors who I learnt from, that this was a place where I could not only help others with their personal health struggles, but I could still apply my cooking knowledge and love of nourishing food.

What makes your products/services special?
What makes my services unique is that not only do I understand the physiology of the body and how the body functions by the support of key nutrients, I also have many years of experience working as a chef so understand the challenges people face when trying to feed themselves and their families healthy meals.

I am also in the middle of developing a new service where myself and a number of therapist will collaborate to offer a personal health team to my clients, which will consider all aspects of health from body, mind and soul. No more hoping from one therapist to the next, telling your story over and over again. Through an intake session, I will work with my clients to understand their story and share this with the other therapists. Together we will offer a protocol that fits to our clients needs and which will give them the tools to take control of their own healing.

Who is your role model or mentor?
I have a few mentors/role models. Firstly, my business mentor and dear friend Lisa Hall who helped me to establish my business, giving me all the necessary tools to get it off the ground as well as build my website. She is one person I know that I can always find the answer to many business related questions and I trust her knowledge and experience.

Zach Bush – An incredible man who has so much knowledge to share about  the health of humanity and the planet we call home.  His mission is to educate and find solutions to improving not only human health but also soil quality through working directly with local farmers. His main focus is on the gut microbiome and how the health of our bacteria determine our overall health. His multidisciplinary approach to healing many modern day illness is exactly the approach I am working towards at present.

What is your biggest fear?
That I get in the way of myself and don’t live my dreams to the fullest.

What motivates you on a daily basis?
Knowing that I have so much to offer this world and I can share my experience of life events that may help to guide others on their path.

How do you relax?
I sing every week with a beautiful group of women. I also like to spend time reading or being in nature growing my own food. At present, I am feeling the urge to tap into my creative side, whether that may be drawing or making some form of herbal products, I’m not sure yet but letting it brew until it comes to the surface.
