Our May monthly networking event was a presentation and discussion about the collaboration of natural health therapists all working from The Hague Natural Health Centre, which was founded by WBII Member Sandra Quist (a homeopath). She was joined by two of her colleagues, Ira Sloof (an acupuncturist and herbalist) and Audrey Dickinson (a nutritional therapist). During the presentation, we learnt how they ‘collaborate’ and take the care of clients as their guiding principle. They also shared with us, from their professional spheres, how we, as entrepreneurs, can look after ourselves in our business activities. After all, collaborating with our own bodies can enhance our ability to collaborate with others.
Among the key topics covered were:
- Holistic approach to health: All three presenters described how they work as a collaborative team of natural health therapists, supporting clients with deeper needs beyond just one therapy. They emphasised the importance of addressing the mind, body and spirit for true health and wellness.
- Homeopathic remedies: Sandra provided an overview of homeopathic tissue salts and flower essences, explaining how they can help support the body, mind and emotions, especially for business owners dealing with stress, burnout and overwhelm.
- Acupuncture and Chinese medicine: Ira, a Chinese medicine practitioner, discussed the principles of acupuncture and the importance of balancing the body’s energy (Qi) to promote healing and well-being.
- Nutrition and the lymphatic system: Audrey highlighted the crucial role of the lymphatic system in overall health and provided tips on how to support it through diet, herbs and lifestyle practices.
All of the speakers emphasised the importance of a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to supporting clients’ health and well-being, as different individuals may respond better to different therapies. They also discussed the challenges of implementing lifestyle changes and the need to address both the physical and emotional aspects of health.
